Associate Executive Director

Transformation Education (TE)

 

Position Type: Full-Time, Donor-Supported
Location: United States (with periodic international travel as feasible)
Reports To: Executive Director (USA)
Works Closely With: Country Director and Leadership Team, TE CBO – Sierra Leone
Supervisory Responsibility: As assigned

 

Organizational Overview

Transformation Education is a Christian nonprofit organization committed to equipping elementary educators in Sierra Leone with Biblically grounded discipleship and English literacy training. Through teacher training, scholarships, curriculum development, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation, TE partners with schools and communities to promote spiritual formation, academic excellence, and long-term educational transformation.

 

Position Summary

The Associate Executive Director serves as a senior leadership partner to the Executive Director, providing operational, relational, and strategic support to advance Transformation Education’s mission. This role is designed for a growing leader who combines ministry partnership development, organizational leadership, and cross-cultural collaboration.

The Associate Executive Director raises their own financial support, represents Transformation Education in approved contexts, and leads designated functional areas while supporting overall organizational effectiveness. This position may grow in scope and authority over time based on organizational needs and demonstrated leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities

Partnership Development & Ministry Advancement

  • Develop and maintain a personal team of prayer and financial partners

  • Communicate TE’s mission, vision, and impact to individuals, churches, and ministry partners

  • Assist the Executive Director in donor cultivation, stewardship, and partner engagement

  • Participate in events, presentations, and meetings to expand TE’s partnership base

 

Organizational Leadership & Support

  • Support the Executive Director in strategic planning and ministry execution

  • Lead assigned functional areas (e.g., partnerships, operations, programs, communications)

  • Assist with organizational systems, policies, and documentation as appropriate

  • Contribute to long-term sustainability and capacity-building initiatives

 

U.S.–Sierra Leone Collaboration

  • Strengthen communication and collaboration between the U.S. leadership and TE CBO in Sierra Leone

  • Support reporting, accountability, and alignment with mission and values

  • Assist with monitoring, evaluation, and narrative reporting of program outcomes

  • Travel to Sierra Leone periodically, as feasible, to support relationship-building and program understanding

Representation & Communication

  • Represent Transformation Education professionally and missionally in approved settings

  • Support the preparation of ministry updates, reports, and communications for partners and stakeholders

  • Uphold TE’s Christian values, theological commitments, and organizational culture

 

Authority & Decision-Making

  • Operates under the direction of the Executive Director

  • Exercises leadership authority within assigned areas of responsibility

  • Bring major decisions to the Executive Director

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Demonstrated Christian faith and commitment to Christian education and discipleship

  • Experience in nonprofit, missions, ministry, education, or related leadership roles

  • Experience with or willingness to engage in donor-supported ministry

  • Strong communication, relational, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively across cultures and time zones

  • Self-directed, adaptable, and teachable leadership posture

Preferred

  • Cross-cultural or international ministry experience

  • Background in education, literacy, or teacher training

  • Familiarity with African ministry contexts or NGO/CBO structures

 

Compensation

This is a donor-supported position. The Associate Executive Director raises personal salary and benefits through approved ministry partners, with administrative and fundraising support provided by Transformation Education.

 

Growth Path

This role may evolve into a Deputy Executive Director position based on organizational growth, demonstrated leadership capacity, and board approval.
